Accessibility
We want every family to be able to use the Globus website and app, including people who use a screen reader, larger text, a keyboard or other assistive technology.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA on this website and in the Globus app for iPhone and Android.
What we have done
- Every form field has a label. When an answer needs fixing, the reason is shown next to the field and read out by screen readers.
- Every link and button can be reached with a keyboard, a clear outline shows where you are, and a skip link jumps straight to the page content.
- The app follows your phone's text size setting, and its layouts are tested with large text. The website keeps working when you zoom in.
- Text and controls are checked against the WCAG colour contrast minimums, and our automated tests fail when a public page falls short.
- Buttons and controls in the app have names that VoiceOver (iPhone) and TalkBack (Android) read out, they are large enough to tap, and status is never shown by colour alone.
- Everything is available in English and Korean. Pages and screens tell screen readers which language they are in, so Korean is read with a Korean voice.
Known limits
- The booking and camp sign-up screens in the app have not yet had a full screen reader review. That review is next.
- Card details are entered on Stripe's secure payment page. Stripe looks after the accessibility of that page.
- The staff pages of this website are checked less often than the pages families use.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on the website or in the app is hard or impossible to use, email globusfencing@gmail.com.
Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use. We answer within 5 business days.
Other ways to book or get help
You never have to use the website or the app to take part. Talk to the front desk at the academy: staff can book classes and lessons for you and answer questions about your account.
